Again let us visit 2nd Corinthians 2:11 and see another subtle but yet purposeful deceit by satan in redefining the meaning of life.
First, let’s settle the first basic question; Who knows better(or best) the meaning of life? Is it the one living the life or the one who created the life? This is like asking “who knows a car better, the driver of the car or the manufacturers of the car?” I believe the answer is obvious here; the Creator of life.
So what is life as defined by God? To better understand life as God ordained, we must go back to the beginning of life. In Genesis God created many thing like water, light, the sky, land, trees, animals both on land and water, etc. The question here is why? Did He create the water for the sake of the water? Absurd reasoning that would be. Same for the land, sea and land creatures, the sky, etc. So why did He create them? Did someone request for it? The answer is the obvious NO.
The creation of man is different and it answers the question. Man’s design and function reveals the reason for creation and consequently the meaning of life.
Genesis 1:26(a) and Genesis 1:27 describes man’s design…”And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness:…” and “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them”. By this design, man was exactly like God Himself.
Genesis 1:26(b) and Genesis 28 states man’s functions and role…“…and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.” And “And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.”
By design, man is like God and by function and role, was to rule over God’s creation. That sounds and looks like man was created to be God’s deputies for/on earth.
So back to the first question; what is life as defined by God?
