Our faith is anchored/connected to Jehovah God through Our Lord and Savour Jesus Christ and we stay connected to Him because we realize that He dead for us, we love Him and He is the only way to eternal life. Hebrews 11:6 says “But without Faith it is impossible to please Him; for He that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarded of them that diligently seek Him”. Our connecting and staying connected to God is about God and not about us. Revelations 4:11 “Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created”
My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus Christ, my righteousness;
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
But wholly lean on Jesus’ name.
On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand;
All other ground is sinking sand,
All other ground is sinking sand.
…..My Hope is Built on Nothing Less.
We are NOT connected to God through Jesus because of what we want or what we can get but because of what He has already done even when we did not know Him. Romans 5:8 “But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us”
Our connection is about love, mercy and worship.
Yes, you too have faith but the question is, what or who are you connected/anchored to with your faith? And why are you connected to the who or what?
I have heard people anchoring their faith in themselves or in others. As erroneous and misleading as that can be, the reason is the misunderstanding of the second twin question; why are you connected to the who or what? While most Christians find such faith in oneself or another human being outrageously ridiculous, they fail to realize that the “WHY”? Is the problem.
The “WHY” is not about their reasons for not connecting to Jesus but their reasons for connecting to who or what they are connected to by faith?
Faith anchored into itself is like the anchor of a boat anchored inside the boat itself. It is a set up for disaster. The boat will be untethered and hence will drift away. Drift away without direction, purpose and destination. Science,technology and psychology attest to man’s limitations both in terrestrial knowledge of worldly concepts and its dynamics and especially celestial existence and its functionalities. People who anchor their faith in themselves do so at the real and imminent risk of disappointments, heartbreaks, failures, depression and a unsatisfied craving for unanswered questions. Here, you hears words like “follow your heart” or “believe in yourself” or “you determine your life”. While these words sound very inspiring and encouraging, they are not true and are damaging because yourself is LIMITED. This is Self-deceit.
The same goes for those who anchor their faith to another human. Whilst the former is self-dececit, this latter is called Foolishness or Sycophany. While Christians outwardly and verbally discourage this, this is commonly found in christendom. Worshipping of the Pastors, Bishops,
Priest and leaders of the church because of the “larger-than-life” persona they have come to portray to their followers who see them as “Deputy/Vice God” or the “Mediators” between man and Jesus. Human Worship.
This is worse. Hosea 4:6 says “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.”
Why? Because of 2nd Timothy 4:3-4… “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.”
Jeremiah 17:5 “Thus saith the Lord ; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the Lord .
What about those who have their faith anchor on wealth and earthly possession? Matthew 6:19 says “Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:” and also 1st Timothy 6:7 “For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.”
So the questions again, who/what is your faith anchored to? And why is your faith anchored to who/what it is anchored to?
An honest answer will go a long way to re-anchoring your faith properly unto the lord Jesus, the Author and Finisher of your Faith… Hebrews 12:2
