The Saint or The Sinner (2)

These questions and many more like them ought to be answered by a believer in Christ Jesus with only One parameter; God’s Word and Will.
Let me give you an instance I know and understand. Nigerian elections. The regular features of Nigerian elections are stealing/walking away with ballot boxes, openly stuffing ballot boxes, outrightly threatening to kill voters by Military if you vote for certain candidates, intimidating electoral officer by Government officials, producing polling result where no voting took place, Government Official using the Police to hijack polling units, assassinations before the election by the rich and powerful in govt, etc… Am sure you get the messed-up picture but that is not the problem of elections in my country, NO.

It is the answers to those questions above by those who call themselves believers in Christ Jesus that determines the outcome of an election. It is when believers in Christ Jesus say concerning everything about themselves…”That I may know him, and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His suffering, being made conformable unto his death” like Paul said in Philippians 3:10. It is when the believers hold dear and sacrosanct the desire to be and please the Lord as David said in Psalms 84:10 “For a day in Your court is better than a thousand. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wickedness.” Or Paul words in Philippians 1:21 “For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain”

So let me ask my American believer reader;
Did all these influences and determine your choice in voting?
Was pleasing Jesus the center and only consideration to your voting choice?
Did you consider the Kingdom of God at all?
OR
Was it a political party ideology issue for you?
As a Republican, was Trump the natural choice?
As a Democrat, was Biden the natural choice?
Was race a decider issue for you?
Was Abortion; for and against, relevant to you?
Was Trump’s character a consideration?
Was Biden’s character a consideration?
Was it the economy?
Was it security
Was it immigration?

Whatever it was, remember when God brought the Israelites out of Egypt and they became recalcitrant towards God, choosing to discuss issues irrelevant to the mercy and glory of the God who saved and rescued them from bondage.? Numbers 14:26-28 says “And the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying, “How long shall I bear with this evil congregation who complain against Me? I have heard the complaints which the children of Israel make against Me. Say to them, ‘As I live,’ says the Lord, ‘just as you have spoken in My hearing, so I will do to you:”

Like us in Nigeria, the Lord is doing to us as we have spoken in our hearts and voted. That is why we have the kind of country we have now with demonic leaders as we have now. Poor economy, corrupt leadership, no infrastructure, no amenities, the list is endless. We, believers in Nigeria chose to consider tribal sentiment, lust for money, corrupt favors, etc above God’s glory and word in our lives, hence we are where we are today.

I hope you American believers did not make the same mistake like us.
Remember 1st Samuel 8:4-9“Then all the elders of Israel gathered together and came to Samuel at Ramah, and said to him, “Look, you are old, and your sons do not walk in your ways. Now make us a king to judge us like all the nations.” But the thing displeased Samuel when they said, “Give us a king to judge us.” So Samuel prayed to the Lord . And the Lord said to Samuel, “Heed the voice of the people in all that they say to you; for they have not rejected you, but they have rejected Me, that I should not reign over them. According to all the works which they have done since the day that I brought them up out of Egypt, even to this day—with which they have forsaken Me and served other gods—so they are doing to you also. Now therefore, heed their voice. However, you shall solemnly forewarn them, and show them the behavior of the king who will reign over them.”
