“We need to encourage new believers to feed on God’s Word—it is nourishment for the soul.”
― Billy Graham,
What is Faith? Faith simply believes God at what He has said no matter your circumstance.
How do we express this faith since we have already been told that we shall live by faith in Romans 1:17 & Galatians 3:11? Even before Jesus dispensation, it has been foretold that the just shall live by faith in …Habakkuk 2:4 “Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith”
What does it mean to live by faith? 2nd Corinthians 4: 13 says “We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak;”. In Mark, chapter 11:23, the Lord Jesus Himself said: “For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.”
From the above, there is a strong connection between Faith, Words, and Speaking (Mouth). The “Salvation Standard Clause” in Romans 10:8-9 says “But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”
Have you heard of scripture like Psalm 107: 20 “He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.” Or have you heard of this scripture “so shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it Shall accomplish that which I please and it Shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it”…Isaiah 55:11
What about Hebrews 1:3 “Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power…” and Genesis 1:3 “And God said…”
Putting all these scriptures together, it obvious that our world was created by words from God. Our very existence is made possible by words from God and it is been kept and shaped by words from God.
In Genesis 1:27 God created man in His image and His likeness by His Holy Spirit to be in charge of the earth and in Romans 8:14&16,… “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God (the same Holy Spirit), they are the sons of God; The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God”. These two scriptures and more places the responsibility of shaping, reshaping, recreating and maintaining this world upon us with words.
So the question is whose words? Yours or God’s?
Being human makes us walk by sight lots of times and so it is easier and very practicable to shape, reshape, recreate and maintain this world with our words.
Hear this perfect warning from Galatians 3:3 “Are you so foolish? After beginning by means of the spirit, are you now trying to finish by means of the flesh”
John 4:24 says “God is Spirit…” and John 1:1-3 says, “In the beginning was the word and the word was with God and the word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All thing were made by him; and without him was not anything made that was made” and Genesis 1:2 says, “…And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters”. These scriptures reveal that the creation of the world was a spiritual architecture, concept, design and execution.
Going by Galatians 3:3 above, to shape, reshape, recreate, maintain and sustain it by our own words is utter foolishness. Hence, the high rate in depression, tyranny, hopelessness, crime, wars, disease, economic disasters, sufferings, pain, racism, etc. We are not and cannot get it right with our own words. It started successfully spiritually; it must be successfully sustained spiritually and must end successfully spiritually too.
Your words cannot bring you healing, health nor desired life change. You are a creation of a Spiritual Being (God); everything about you can only be shaped, reshaped, recreated, maintained and sustained by His creative spiritual words in your mouth
“The soul can do without everything except the word of God, without which none at all of its wants are provided for.”
― Martin Luther,
