BOLD CLAIMS 2

“Jesus’ willingness to accommodate Thomas’ unbelief is a reminder that God can handle our doubt. And that the rationalist doesn’t need to see, touch, or run a lab test in order to believe in the resurrected Christ. Jesus told him, “You believe because you have seen me. Blessed are those who believe without seeing me” (Jn 20:29) This is not a plea to accept what goes against reason, but it is an invitation to discover a faith that goes beyond it. The example of Thomas is for the stubborn skeptic in us all.”
― David D. Flowers

In addition, man is made up of Spirit, Soul, and Body but man’s environment is in the physical realm and so what is most developed is the Body. When we talk about the Body here, we mean the five senses of touch, smell, taste, see, and ear. A careful study of the Bible will show us that God understands this aspect of man hence in Genesis 18:2 the Bible reads in part, “Abraham looked up and saw three men standing nearby…” but they were Angels and not humans. The only way they could relate to him was to be like him. Our Lord Jesus himself is God yet, HE came as a man to be able to relate with us…1st John 4:2. Hence, 2nd Corinthians 5:7 teaches us to walk by faith and not by what we see in the physical because the reverse is man’s nature. Therefore, whatever does not conform to the physical; meaning it has not been seen, touched, heard, smelled nor tasted, is not real and cannot be believed and should be doubted. In the above example, seen we have not seen a man hold his breath underwater for 24 hours, then it cannot be believed and should be doubted.

“Here is a fundamental difference between the man of faith and the man of unbelief. The unbeliever is ‘of the world’, judges everything by worldly standards, views life from the standpoint of time and sense, and weighs everything in the balances of his own carnal making. But the man of faith brings in God, looks at everything from His standpoint, estimates values by spiritual standards, and views life in the light of eternity. Doing this, he receives whatever comes as from the hand of God. Doing this, his heart is calm in the midst of the storm. Doing this, he rejoices in hope of the glory of God.”
― Arthur W. Pink, The Sovereignty of God

Let me tell us about these bold claims.
“I am the Way, the Truth and the Life, NO MAN comes unto the Father but by me”
“…Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father…”
“For as the Father has life in Himself, so He has granted the Son also to have life in Himself”
“I and the Father are one”
“For no one can lay a foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ”
“Very truly I tell you, Jesus answered, “Before Abraham was born, I AM”
“For God so loved the world that he gave His One and Only Son, that whoever believes in Him Shall not perish but have eternal life”
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God.”
“And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the same glory I had with you before the world began”
“A voice came from the cloud, saying This is my Son, whom I have chosen; listen to him”

There are many more statements like this about Jesus and by Jesus about Himself. Are they bold claims? Should they be doubted and disbelieved?

“Every argument against the God of the Bible is based on made-up stuff.”
