Is there a need for repentance and How?

The need for repentance is trite and foundational and a prerequisite for salvation and relationship with God. It has been echoed in the Old Testament (Isaiah 30:15 says “This is what the Sovereign Lord, the Holy One of Israel, says: In repentance and rest is your salvation…”) repeated several times by our Lord Jesus himself (Luke 5:32 “I have not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance”; Matthew 4:17 “from that time on Jesus began to preach, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near”) and then by the apostles(Acts 3:19 “Repent, then and turn to God so that your sins May be wiped out, that times of refreshing May come from the Lord”; Acts 20:21 “I have declared to both Jews and Greeks that they must turn to God in repentance and have faith in our Lord Jesus”

It is not optional but sacrosanct. Remember Matthew 22:1-14… even though the king made the party a public one for everyone to come, there was still a requirement and the man who did not meet up with the requirement was thrown out.

How? Romans 10:10 “For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified and it is with your mouth that you confess your faith and are saved”. You repent of your sins by first acknowledging that you are a sinner that needs to be forgiven (Prodigal Son…Luke 15:18-21“I will arise and go to my father and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee, And am no more worthy to be called thy son: make me as one of thy hired servants. And he arose and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.” ).

Secondly, believing in your heart that Jesus has saved you by paying the price with His blood and publicly confessing Jesus as your Lord and savior in your daily living for Christ….Matthew 10:32… “Whosoever, therefore, shall confess me before men, he will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven”
