Is It About Money.?

Have you ever awaited the arrival of a “important guest” in your home?

For instance, imagine the President of your country calling to say he/She is coming to your house for dinner.

Every home has it’s regular meals, times for those meals and cutleries for those meals. It’s rather typical in every home but when you are told that the President is coming…do you prepare the same meal, the same way, using the same cutleries and setting the meal for the Same time as usual.

Of course NOT. You use a better cutlery, the best plates, bowls, spoons, fork, knife, etc..You prepare a different but special meal in the most delicate and professional way in other for it to come out well all because of the person to be served.

What about if He demands a gift or you have to give him a gift as part of His visitation to your house…You will certainly give him the best of what He request or of what you have.

The Book of Malachi has been misunderstood and it’s message perverted for material gains.

The issue God had with His people in the Book of Malachi was not the Quantity of the sacrifice but the Quality” .

The latter was a direct reflection of the “Value” they placed on God. In the instance case of Malachi, it was next to nothing.

It will “never” have pleased God or had any value in the sight of God if they offered a thousand or a million lame, diseased and blind cows, rams, goat or sheep as sacrifices to God…

Remember Cain and Abel…it was about the quantity but quality
Chapter 1:6 says ““A son honors his father, and a slave his master. If I am a father, where is the honor due me? If I am a master, where is the respect due me?” says the Lord Almighty….”

But the conversation in Malachi begins in Verse 2 with this statement… ““I have loved you,” says the Lord …”
This verse establishes the basis of our relationship with God and that is “LOVE” and not “MONEY” ; it was about the heart connection with the recipient of the gift and not the size of the gift.
Love for God is interpreted by God to mean;
1. Fear for God
2. Worship
3. Reverence
4. Honour
5. Obedience
6. Faithfulness to God alone
….and a lot more but there was none of these with the people like it is “TODAY”

Chapter 1:8 highlights one part of the problem… “When you offer blind animals for sacrifice, is that not wrong? When you sacrifice lame or diseased animals, is that not wrong? Try offering them to your governor! Would he be pleased with you? Would he accept you?” says the Lord Almighty.”

Then Chapter 2 highlights another set of problems which is perversed and corrupt teachings of the priesthood. The priesthood in today’s world is US. Remember 1st Peter 2:9

Then lastly is in the popular Chapter 3:13-15 which is “Lack of faith, trust and hope in God” which is reflected in their giving… ““You have spoken arrogantly against me,” says the Lord . “Yet you ask, ‘What have we said against you?’ “You have said, ‘It is futile to serve God. What do we gain by carrying out his requirements and going about like mourners before the Lord Almighty? But now we call the arrogant blessed. Certainly evildoers prosper, and even when they put God to the test, they get away with it.’ ”

So in summary, God was dealing with;

1. A corrupt Teaching that has led to;

2. A corrupt Mind which is made manifest in a;

3. A corrupt Character and Attitude.
