Nightmare Poems 11; The Former or The Latter?

Dreadful is the sound
The hand trembles as the heart pound
Terror on faces
People looking for redemption in strange places

The blast of the trumpet
A reminder of a musket

A sound; bitter sweet
A sound; delightfully unnerving
A sound; nauseatingly appealing
A sound; of loss and victory found

Unsure are these words
To the simple; a puzzle or crosswords
To the discerning; a divide
Between the blind and His Bride

To the former; a fright and death
To the latter; joy and life
To the former; a blight and wreath
To the latter; into EL’s presence and light.

Where do you stand?
The former; a quicksand
The latter; a crownland
