What is in Proverbs 13:12?
“Hope deferred maketh the heart sick…”
This brings us to the heart of todays discuss; faith and barrenness and you have a peculiar challenge and view about this?
I leaned on God; believe in God, hoped in God, prayed to God and trusted God and this brought about a conflict of understanding of the concept of “faith” that could have torpedoed my relationship with God but thank God for the holy spirit through Temi. Every time I am in church and messages on “fruit of the womb” or “barrenness” is preached, the underlying emphasis is “having faith”. So I began to wonder, don’t I have faith? What is faith? I became confused because doubt had crept into my heart and corrupted my understanding of having faith in God to fulfill a promise “He” (God) had already made because I understood Isaiah 55:11 which says “so shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.” And combining this Scripture with John 6:63 which says “it is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.”
And then 2nd Corinthians 13:1 says “this is the third time I am coming to you. In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established?” When you put these three scriptures together, my simple understanding is that “God says a thing once or makes a promise once but it resonates throughout history a thousand times in his actions and assurances which makes the first promise confirmable and true. Why?; Because he loves us and understands our limited human frailties. So Barrenness; what has God said once about barrenness?
If you open your Bible to Genesis 1:27-28 Chima, God says “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth…”
Chima, this is a command and a blueprint of our creation. We “must” multiply; we “must” have children. Being fruitful; being fertile; having children; procreating, is ingrained into the core of our existence by God. No one is created barren by God regardless of scientific postulations over the matter.
hmm! That’s a bold statement madam…a very bold Statement indeed…the kind that either gets people who believed God and did not get children very angry…
