Romans 5:8 says “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
Popular scripture but I ask myself “why did He(God) need to demonstrate anything at all“?
He is God, the Yorubas Tribe in my country call Him “ase’ iyi owun” (The one that does what He like and cannot be questioned)…
If He demonstrates His love or does not demonstrate it, there is nothing we can do…remember The Porter and The Clay analogy in Jeremiah 18…
“This is the word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord : “Go down to the potter’s house, and there I will give you my message.” So I went down to the potter’s house, and I saw him working at the wheel. But the pot he was shaping from the clay was marred in his hands; so the potter formed it into another pot, shaping it as seemed best to him. Then the word of the Lord came to me. He said, “Can I not do with you, Israel, as this potter does?” declares the Lord . “Like clay in the hand of the potter, so are you in my hand, Israel.”
So why demonstrate His Love?
The answer for me is “He wants to because He loves to and He loves to because it is in His nature to”
The Book of 1st John 4:8 establishes this fact….”Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.”
So here lies the confusion and burden in the body of Christ today…
Psalm 82:6 says “I said, ‘You are “gods”; you are all sons of the Most High.’...This scripture is confirmed by Jesus in John 10:34 which says “Jesus answered them, “Is it not written in your Law, ‘I have said you are “gods?”
So if we are born again(gods)and now children of God(The Most High), “Shouldn’t we also demonstrate God’s love”?
How come people see us and cannot see God’s love “demonstrated” at all?
Going to church with Big bibles, quoting every scripture in the bible and yet, we cannot demonstrate God’s love to fellow brethren by way of calling, visiting, giving(no matter how little)etc…Are we truly like our Father? I doubt….James 2:15-17 says “Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.”
My prayer today is in 2nd John 1:6 which says “And this is love: that we walk in obedience to his commands. As you have heard from the beginning, his command is that you walk in love.”
Lord Jesus, grant us grace to know that true obedience to Your WORD is to walk in love as the father had demonstrated and grant us more grace to walk in Your love in Jesus name….Amen!!!
