So what has I AM THAT I AM specifically demanded or asked from you/us?
The truth be said, whatever He asks from you is actually His own, so to put the question rightly “what thing that belongs to I AM THAT I AM that is in your possession that He has asked you to give back to Him?
Now it is proper to understand the nature of His demands and the nature of His demands starts from Book of Genesis. From Genesis Chapter One to Three, the I AM THAT I AM created the whole earth and its inhabitants and subsequently man fell to sin and was removed from the Garden of Eden but He never made any demands from Adam, Eve, and, nor Abel. He did not ask them for money or anything else. These were His first grade of creation and yet He never demanded money from them but surprisingly He blessed the labor of their hands and prospered them. Their prosperity was not hinged on their giving Him money or anything.
What makes me worried is when Preachers give the impression that God will only prosper a man when the man gives Him something? I believe this is wrong. It was not so from the beginning. The I AM THAT I AM does not prosper a man because of what He can get from a man or what the man can give to Him. That is very belittling.
By Genesis Chapter 10, the Great Flood was over and the generation of the Three Sons of Noah namely Shem, Ham and Japheth were listed and traced all through to Chapter 11 straight to our Father Abraham (Abram) whom the scripture says nothing significant about other than he married Sarai who was barren. By Genesis Chapter 12, God was already speaking with Abram, pronouncing blessings upon him and yet he had not offered God any money or anything. Still in Chapter 12, Abraham bagged his first set of wealth in Egypt by default. On entering Egypt, Abraham thought to himself out of fear for his life that when the men of Egypt see how beautiful Sarai is, they will want to marry her by force and so he told Sarai that if anyone approaches her for marriage; she should tell them that he (Abraham) is her brother and not her husband. Indeed Pharaoh saw Sarai and took her for wife and because she said Abraham was her brother, he gave Abraham the following…” Genesis 12:16 “And he entreated Abram well for her sake: and he had sheep, and oxen, and he asses, and menservants, and maidservants, and she asses, and camels.” Abraham gave God nothing yet God made him wealthy through the most unbelievable way.
In 1st Chronicles 4: 10 there is no evidence written to suggest that Jabez offered sacrifices whether by cash or kind to God. He simple cried out to God to bless him and enlarge his coast and God did it… “1st Chronicles 4:10 And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.”
Joseph was a highly “favored” man. He was loved and favored by his father, loved and favored by Genesis and loved and favored by the Prisoner-Keeper and all these was because he was loved and favored by God…Genesis 39:21 “But the LORD was with Joseph, and shewed him mercy, and gave him favor in the sight of the keeper of the prison” . The question is why was he favored and loved by God? Did he give God sacrifices in cash or kind to deserve such treatment from God?
David was favored in the sight of Saul (1st Samuel 16: 22 “And Saul sent to Jesse, saying, Let David, I pray thee, stand before me; for he hath found favor in my sigh”. ), David was favored in the sight of Samuel because he was favored in the sight of God (1st Samuel 16:13 Then Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed him in the midst of his brethren: and the Spirit of the LORD came upon David from that day forward. So Samuel rose up, and went to Ramah.) WHY?
I could name many other persons in the Bible and go on to show how God truly blessed these persons and yet they never dropped a dime for God. My conclusion is that God does not require your money no matter how much as a measurement and a yardstick for blessing His children.
In the study of Scriptures, the deliberate reading of chapters and verse in isolation of each other is an attempt to deceive and manipulate God’s intention and the ignorant pick-and-choose approach to study of Scripture only leads to a frustrating dead-end. For instance Luke 6: 38 says give and it shall be given back to you….. This Scripture is “ALWAYS” used for monetary purposes ONLY but a wholistic study of the entire Chapter Six(6) of the Book of Luke reveals that that verse has got nothing to do with money, cash or anything financial.
In all the times our Lord Jesus spent on earth, there is no record anywhere that I know of where he demanded money before he helped or did or blessed or healed any one. The Disciples themselves never gave monetary offerings before they were chosen or after they were chosen.
