As the trembling increased in intensity, I started hearing voices. Initially I was not sure whether they were human or not, I thought they were the voices of the fellow dead been tortured but they were not screaming nor shouting, rather they were discussing. As the trembling increased even more, the voices increased in number, so also a roaring sound and the bags on me started getting lighter. Then the voices started getting clearer, I could only hear “…there are still more here..” and then a chorus of “…pull up” and as they did, sunlight broke through and I could see the sky. My eyeballs were sore as the light rays burnt them…now I was very confused. What kind of grave is this? Am I not dead; is this not the hell I have come to embrace? Where am I really? My senses were scrambled, not understanding what was happening but later I understood the roaring sound, it was from a crane and the people were guiding the crane to pull up the bags upon me…then I heard someone shout “…this one is alive…he is alive…his eyes are open”. Now I saw them clearer as they came to me, lifted me up and gently dropped on a board like object and tied the iron rope around the board and myself and shouted “…pull him up”. As I was being pulled and lifted up, I saw many dead bodies around and beneath me as the people kept on pulling them out from the borough pit. I saw my car, crushed and mangled so badly that made wonder how I survived but I now know am alive, a bitter truth but a long and torturous journey back to Him. I was grateful.
There was grave yard silence at the Igbinomwanhia Hall of the NAiben Hotels and Suits where I host yearly my seminar titled “My Reality”. This year was sub-titled “Redeeming the time, because the days are evil”…taken from Ephesians 5:16. Like the NIV (New International Version) of the Bible will say “Making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil”.
I ended my story with the sub-title of the seminar, emphasizing on forgiving yourself, that no matter how terrible and long gone in sin you have been, God’s forgiveness through the blood of Jesus is able to clean you according to Isaiah 1:18 “Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.” and accepting the forgiveness from God through Jesus because Jesus has already paid the price according to Romans 5:8 “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” for your forgiveness. Afterwards seek the forgiveness of those whom you have wrong for the sake of Christ…Matthew 5:23-24 and be ready to restitute if necessary. Also be ready to forgive others who have offended you….Matthew 18:21-22 and the Lord prayer in Matthew 6:12
Realize that according to John 10:10 Jesus is truly The Only Way, The Only Truth and The Only Life and outside of Him is death…Acts 4:12….1st Corinthians 3:11 ”For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ…. John17:3 “And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.”
The reason for this emphasis being that death can occur at anything but once it occurs, judgment is next according to Hebrews 9:27 “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:” after death, there will be no more mercy nor forgiveness, now is the acceptable day to surrender to Jesus…2nd Corinthians 6:2 “(For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)”
I saw tires flowing down the cheeks of many with some out rightly sobbing and others awe stricken at my story. Some stared at me with disbelief and others with marvel at what I have been through and the many more I could not write down but the shock on everyone’s face became most vivid when I introduced my sponsors of the seminars; Mr. & Mrs. Charles Imafidon and their two blessed children, Ngioma and Timi and also Pastor Kunle who makes the Alter Calls. The look of astonishment followed by whispers of bewilderments always heralds the climax of all the seminars. Then I introduce Mrs. Lara Gwamezioku; my wife. They all smiled as they climbed the podium to join me at the Alter
My wife leads the songs of praise and worship to Jesus as Pastor Kunle makes the call to surrender to Jesus. The whole podium is packed full with almost everyone longing to surrender and devote their lives to Jesus. God made the story and the sermon clear to every heart that came and there was a harvest of soul to the glory of God through Jesus Our Lord.
Whilst all these are going on at the podium, I excused myself, got into a room, locked the door and wept before my Lord Jesus for the second chance He has given to me to make things right, for my wife Lara who forgave despite my past, for using my experience to bring many to His saving knowledge and light.
Thank you Jesus.
