Colossians 1:21‭-‬23 says “Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior. But now he has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation— if you continue in your faith, established and firm, and do not move from the hope held out in the gospel.” This is the gospel that you heard and that has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven, and of which I, Paul, have become a servant.”‬‬

Brethren, this scripture is very instructive when we examine it closely. Did you know that our enmity with God starts from our minds(hearts)…Our thoughts in our hearts is where the whole problem starts from,… “Matthew 12:34(b)” says “… For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.”. Your outwards disregard for God  begins with your “Sinful” thoughts  in your heart which includes “Doubts” and “Fears”. Aligned your thoughts with God’s thoughts (Word and Will) today.

But in case you are wondering, Can’t I align my thoughts and actions with something else or someone else?

What about Islam where your  pursuit of divinity is based on your ability and capacity to destroy others who don’t believe what you believe in physical combat of whatever form as a show of love toward their god?

What about Buddha where your pursuit of purity demand your many retrials of life but in different forms at every trial which begs the question; are animals also aspiring to reach high levels of spirituality if some of your retrials will be in the form of an animal? Weird, I most say.

What about the New generation Humanistic  principles of self good where sin is objective based on individual perspective and tolerance; where there is no right, no wrong, no sin, just respecting each other’s boundaries of rights. That’s nice to the hears and easy to live bye because it appeals to the fallen nature of man that the bible often refers to as “the flesh”. It removes restrains and enables its adherents to pursue self will and self will is all about your joy, your peace, your happiness, your fulfilment in life…Now imagine two kinds of worlds; the 1st is the one where only YOU live in and so YOU have your way in all things….(that is a very lonely world because even in heaven where God lives, there are Angels, righteousness souls and other eternal beings); and then the 2nd World is where everyone pursues life from their own moral view point which includes their needs and wants (which are scarce, limited or not available in some instances ) for only themselves and yet many of the “wants and needs” must be share by everyone. That is a world of chaos, anarchy and confusion because everyone will have to come up with a sharing mechanism and formula that will share the “wants and needs” that is not naturally enough and in some instance, not available at all. That means that some persons will not get their “wants and needs” and so who will forego his/her is the questions? YOU? But since everyone works with his/her rules, no one will want to be left out and so anarchy and chaos.

The Book of Colossians further says “…But now he has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to…”. So now you know that your mind  and heart can only be aligned with Jesus and Jesus ALONE…Romans 12:2 says “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”

So to what benefit is aligning our minds and heart to Jesus apart from the very obvious fact that it is a command and the only way to God.. .John 14:6 “Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”…still in the above Colossian text… “to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation”

Now this is a very and extremely important fact. What it means is that the only way you can be presented to God without sin or fault is through and by Jesus Christ.  This is the heart of this article. If you want to make it to heaven, You need to align your entire life with and under Jesus and no one else. Nothing and I mean nothing can make you clean and qualified to be in heaven except Jesus…1st Corinthians 3:11 “For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ.” And Acts 4:12 “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.”

So how do I align myself with Jesus? By believing in your heart that Jesus is the only Son of the Almighty Jehovah God and He came to earth to die for Your sins and salvation and then you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Your Lord, your King and Your Savior and salvation; the Author and Finisher of Your Faith and life and that You will live for Him and Him alone, obeying every word and will.

So is it a One-time thing? I mean is it something I do or say once and then go back to my regular life and ways? No!!!!, the above scripture text further says “if you continue in your faith, established and firm, and do not move from the hope held out in the gospel.”. The operative word there is “Continue”, meaning living for Jesus is what you will do for the rest of your life.

Those this sound frightening and burdensome to you? Much to the contrary, Matthew 11:28 says “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” And in Genesis 33:14 God assures Moses thus “The Lord replied, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” and Jesus says in John 14:6 “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”

These and many more are the promises of God when you give your life to Jesus.
