THE GRANDEUR OF SIMPLICITY(B)

In the Past A of this article, we saw hopeless and dire the situation and circumstance the Israelites had found themselves for 40 days unending and yet God know knew.
Now Jesse, the father of David was the one who sent David to the battle Zone and for what? “Take this ephah of roasted grain and these ten loaves of bread for your brothers and hurry to their camp. Take along these ten cheeses to the commander of their unit. See how your brothers are and bring back some assurance from them. They are with Saul and all the men of Israel in the Valley of Elah, fighting against the Philistines.”  He was sent there to deliver food, inquire about his brother’s welfare and state and report back same to his father and nothing more. Note worthy is that David never went there on his own nor showed a desire to go there in the first place. So the Savior of Israel was not planning or strategizing to save Israel, that was not part of his training, grooming or agenda.

Was it coincidental that it was when he reached the camp of the Israelites, dropped the food supply and was inquiring from his brothers on how they were faring in obedience to his father (Jesse) instruction that Goliath, the Philistine champion from Gath, stepped out from his lines as usual and shouted his usual defiance, and David heard it. Hmmm!!!

Even at the threats from Goliath, David still did not indicate any interest at the war until he heard the soldiers saying “The king will give great wealth to the man who kills him. He will also give him his daughter in marriage and will exempt his family from taxes in Israel.”  And then the bible said that David further asked to confirm what he heard earlier “David asked the men standing near him, “What will be done for the man who kills this Philistine and removes this disgrace from Israel? Who is this uncircumcised Philistine that he should defy the armies of the living God?”  They repeated to him what they had been saying and told him, “This is what will be done for the man who kills him.”  Even when David’s brother, Eliab tried to drive him away, the bible says “He then turned away to someone else and brought up the same matter, and the men answered him as before.

Now King Saul was told what  David said and He sent for him. On appearing before the King, David says, “Let no one lose heart on account of this Philistine; your servant will go and fight him.”  Saul replied, “You are not able to go out against this Philistine and fight him; you are only a young man, and he has been a warrior from his youth.”  But David said to Saul, “Your servant has been keeping his father’s sheep. When a lion or a bear came and carried off a sheep from the flock, I went after it, struck it and rescued the sheep from its mouth. When it turned on me, I seized it by its hair, struck it and killed it. Your servant has killed both the lion and the bear; this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, because he has defied the armies of the living God. The Lord who rescued me from the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear will rescue me from the hand of this Philistine.”

David gave King Saul his “Warrior” resume which is very laughable and ridiculous compared to Goliath…A Lion and a Bear? Am sure a lion and a bear will run at the sight of Goliath.

Finally David defeated Goliath effortlessly with just a stone.

This reminds me of Gideon in Judges Chapter 8; how the Lord made him gather an army and yet never really fought the war because He (The Lord) caused the Midianites to turn against each other.

Friends, why does God do things like this? Because He still does things like this?

THAT THE PRAISE AND GLORY SHALL BE GIVEN TO HIM AND HIM ALONE.

THAT IT IS NOT ABOUT THE VESSEL HE HAS CHOSEN TO SAVE YOU BUT IT’S ABOUT HIM ALONE ….The Bible says in 1st Samuel 14:6 “… Nothing can hinder the Lord from saving, whether by many or by few.”

HE IS THE ONE THAT TRULY QUALIFIES A MAN FIT FOR A TASK. DO NOT DISQUALIFY YOURSELF OR ANYONE ELSE WHEN HE HAS NOT. Hebrews 13:21  “equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.”

IT DOES NOT MATTER WHAT PEOPLE SAY OR THINK ABOUT YOU, GOD’S THOUGHTS ARE FINAL AND SUPERIOR.

Who could believe that He will save Israel by the hands of shepherd boy. His ways are not our ways; neither are His thoughts. They are higher than ours.

God is working out your good in that terrible circumstance you are going through right now but through means you cannot see or means that will seem very impossible to you. Just concentrate on Him alone and don’t bother yourself on how and when He will do it.

If God loves you enough to send Jesus to die for you, let Your heart be at rest over that issue in your life, He loves you enough to help you out too. JUST FOCUS ON HIM, HE IS ALREADY WORKING IT OUT FOR YOUR GOOD.
