There are many areas of disagreements and divergence in Christendom especially in my part of the world. They range from dressing, mannerism, theological biases, pursuit of prosperity, etc. which in turn has led to the proliferation of churches everywhere.
Let me make a little but significant detour; the proliferation of churches everywhere especially in my country is not really about advancing and articulating the leader’s believe system but it is more of financial gains. The spiritual views of the leader are aimed at financially enriching himself, his family and a few of his aids. That is why he/she desserts his former church under the guise of being led by the spirit of God into ministry or to correct a specific wrong doctrine in the former church. What makes it ridiculous is that the spirit never leads them like John, Paul or the Lord Jesus himself into the wilderness (city outskirts, villages, creeks, swarms, etc.) …Noooooo!!!!, the spirit leads them into the heart of every major city in my country, into the beautiful, already-evangelized, filled with churches (like themselves) cities where the people with the money reside which in turn means fatter offerings and tithes. Then the giant Billboards of himself and his wife with a “Am-God’s-Deputy” Pose or “I-Tell-God-What-To-Do” pose littered all over the City centers alone and like the saying goes “it takes money to make more money”, once the monies start coming in, the next shop is the media houses especially the Television Stations. For this one (who actually are in the majority) Paul say … Philippians 3:19;
“Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly and whose glory is in their shame; who mind earthly thing”
“For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.”
Enough of the detour, now one of such areas of divergence is formality of Prayer. Again a little detour to the two major kinds of prayer; prayers that don’t get answered and prayers that gets answers from God. There are some prayers God Himself said he will not answer… Proverbs 15:8;
“The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord….”
“Ye ask and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts”
For the purpose of clarity of this article, there three major issues on prayer namely and we will discuss that in the next article.
